Turn Discount Roman Shades Into Custom Window treatments

Roman shades are traditional window treatment but discount Roman shades can be boring and custom Roman shades can be very expensive. Luckily you can give your windows for custom look you want without having to take out a home loan by using a little bit of imagination and some hot glue.

Roman shades provide a nice clean look in your window and are a traditional flat-panel shade that has soft folds when raised. You can get them in almost any material and you can have fancy custom-made ones or natural looking ones made out of grasses. Either way, Roman shades can provide a great complement to almost any decorating scheme.

If you have a little bit of creativity you can get the look of the expense of custom-made Roman shades by embellishing inexpensive Roman shades yourself. Alls you need is a glue gun, some fringe, some ribbon and a little bit of creativity!

When you go shopping for your shades, be sure to buy one that is a solid color and one which matches the colors of the room you are decorating. You might get shades that of the color of your wall or the color of your rug or maybe even ones that have a color that matches the fabrics in your room. This might be a challenge because discounted shades don’t always come with a lot of options so you may have to spend some time looking around until you find the perfect ones.

Once you have a shades, you’ll need to decide how you want to decorate them. This largely depends on the style of your room if the room is all frilly and fluffy you can add a lot of ways infringes to the Roman shades, but if your room is more traditional or country style you might want to just go with a swatch of ribbon on the bottom.

Here are some things you can do to dress up your plain Roman shades:

Stencil - Try using fabric paint and a stencil to settle some sort of the design of the middle the shade. Anything too fancy might be difficult but something like a large fleur-de-lis or a flower could look nice.

Lace - For bedrooms or other frilly rooms, adding some lace to the bottom of the shade can give it a nice romantic look. Be sure to buy lace that is jagged on the bottom and hot glued onto your shade so that the bottom of the lace hangs below the shade to set off the fancy contours.

Fringe - you can embellish your Roman shades by hot gluing some fringe right onto the bottom. This can be soaked French for sophisticated look, or beaded fringe for the boudoir.

Ribbons - you can buy ribbons in a variety of width at your local sewing center and so or glue them onto the bottom of your Roman Shade. You can do them in layers, glue them one on top of the other up the bottom of the shade, or just put a single swatch of ribbon to add a bit of interest.

Discounted Roman shades can be embellished it anyway you want, use your imagination and you can add your own unique stamp to this part of your décor.
